Last night the bf and I watched Tig Notaro's new comedy special on HBO: "Boyish Girl Interrupted". Tig Notaro, who describes herself as the sushi of comedy, is an absolute joy to watch. Joy? Maybe not joy. It turns to joy. It starts out as a strange awkward sense of foreboding, but it quickly becomes joy.
She's like a weird slow moving turtle, albeit one with a keen sense of humour, moving purposefully towards something hilarious that you can almost taste but aren't quite sure of. Somehow, it makes the jokes even funnier.
If you haven't heard of her, this bit perfectly encapsulates her essence. I call it the farting stool joke. You need to watch the whole thing though! Because somehow, against your will, you'll find yourself laughing. Jump ahead to 2:30

Glob. Is there anything more perfect than a great comedy routine? Now I'm going to end up on a Youtube comedy spiral looking for my favourite bits.
Sure, comedy is better live. It just IS. But comedians are like vampires in that they both only seem to come out at night and by then I'm sleepy. ALAS.
Oh well. It would seem this post is just going to be a weird spiral into odd comedy moments I have loved. Might as well make it productive and post links!
