I suspect the next big project is to tackle the living room.
Our living room is the first thing you see when you enter the house and has a massive bookshelf built into the wall. It's also got 2 recessed lights built in, though I've yet to figure out where the light switch that turns it on is. (No. Seriously.)
For a long time, the whole thing was a kind of landing zone for odds and ends that had nowhere else to go. It was also painting the same weird babypoo green as the rest of the house.
Worst though, is the weird spraypaint 'creepy blue rocks' spray paint along the border. Textured spray paint should be outlawed.
We've found homes for all the bric-a-brac and painted the entire thing a very very pale blue to match the darker blue stencil I painfully applied. Seriously? What made me think it was a good idea? STENCILS TAKE FOREVER. NEVER DO IT.
We've also merged all our books and DVD's! (WOO. COMMITMENT) Honestly, figuring which books I wanted to keep was one of the hardest decisions of my life. Still, now that I mostly read in e-format, it seems silly to horde my books. Better to set them free so they can bring somebody else joy.
There are still flaws, but it's pretty cool. I have the sneaking suspicion it looks more greek than gamer but... perhaps it's greek gamer.

The design is a series of arrows. (Up up down down left right left right A B?) Even though I sanded the horrifying texture spray paint, it's still not really even. The plan is to put thin strips of veneer over the dark blue trim, in the same colour as the boxes. (OMG. Bless bf. I am like 'light like pine' and he would show me something in cherrywood. And back and forth while his options seemed to get redder and redder.) The next question is what to paint the rest of the room? I was leaning towards a soft mint green or a soft blue though I can't decide if those colours actually match??? If you google 'mint and blue' you end up with a LOT of wedding themes. And my greatest fear is that somehow I will turn the living room into some perpetual big fat greek wedding. |
There also needs to be addressed the really... bizarre... choice of window treatment.
