WOAH
it's been a while, huh?
The house is starting to really come together. I've made some curtains and hung ALL THE THINGS. Really, I've given myself the spiffy new title of 'anchor queen' as I've spent so much time with my drill and an assorted box of anchors.
Attach it to the stud! -that's what you're yelling.
NOPE. This house? no studs. i have no idea how it's standing. Better to use these ridiculous anchors that I grew up calling 'crocodile clips' but which I'm realizing I might have made up. OH WELL.
Here's a tour of all the things I've attached to walls lately:
Here are my babies all hung up! Technically I also have another full size guitar.. but he's gonna stay in his case.
I've been super lax on playing guitar. I probably haven't picked it up in months. Note to self, remedy this. Maybe with some terrible versions of SHOW TUNES? While on vacation I got very into the broadway version of "THE LION KING" and specifically 'he lives in you'. Which is an excellent song to sing to annoy your partner.

Here is my grundal with BONUS how I hang my broom! The broom hanging thing you can get from home depot.
The grundal system is pretty inexpensive, from IKEA no less, and a cinch to install. I've always been a sucker for hanging things on hooks though. Plus, it's an excellent home for my new wok. Plus the shelf is close enough to the wall to be able to balance the lids inbetween wall and shelf without worrying that it might fall.
Originally we were going to put up a peg board, ala Julia Child, but she didn't have IKEA in France and I feel she would have approved of this system. I've also taken to hanging kitchen tools that I don't use all that often. I mean, I LOVE my crepe flipper but man cannot live on crepes alone. (well you could, probably...)

The round cork things are also from IKEA and it's finally starting to look great! We've also allocated one for 'gift cards and appointments' which is pretty great. Otherwise I forget we have gift cards. My little brother bought me those cute 'hanging buddies' you see trying to scale the wall. Shame. Caught perpetually just dangling on a cliff... and then I go and hang a scarf and some bowling shoes off em. Seems sort of cruel. |
It's WINTER in Ye Ol'Canada (ugh) so that means wearing scarves and what have you. Even though there's only two of us... somehow there are 1 million hats?
Look. I get cold easily.
Anywho.
I made this spiffy orange thing (from some fabric leftover from the throw pillows. MATCHIN! And it fits pretty nicely into the gap. How did I adhere it to the wall? Was it double sided tape? Nah, I just used push pins.
...
yup.
Still, gloves, hats, and mits are now mostly CONTAINED. Until, I suppose, I buy even more gloves. Being cold SUCKS.
