Can you believe we're into the last week of February? Which means that this blasted snow and ice should start melting reasonably soon, right? Which, I suppose, means I need to start thinking about gardening. GARDENING! HOW? WHY? Ugh.
Though, amazingly, my window herbs are still alive. I wouldn't say that they're thriving, but they're ALIVE. Keep holding on to what you've got, little herbs! We're almost there!
In tv news: Like everybody else on Earth, we're watching American Crime Story. I am an unabashed Ryan Murphy fan so was INTO IT before it even aired. I WILL WATCH ALL YOUR SHOWS RYAN MURPHY. I UNDERSTAND YOU.
Still, I'll admit that when the OJ trial happened I was too young to really care about it? Vague memories from that time recall more pining over a boy who didn't seem to know I existed rather than the American Justice System. It worries me a bit that I remember the South Park episode more than any of the actual trial and I don't even watch South Park.
Still, it's a fascinating show. Sarah Paulson's wig game continues to be FIERCE AS FRAK and the cast is just fantastic. Who knew David Schwimmer would make such a perfect Robert Kardashian? Who knew that the Kardashian children would feature so prominantly in this show?
Also the walking dead has been back for a few weeks but we haven't caught up. I just.. enjoy living in this beautiful bubble where the season paused and it seems like Rick is totally gonna get eaten. Can I just stay in my happy place?
MOVING ON
My baby brother is obsessed with a free iphone game called 'battle cats'. In it, you control a group of cats (which become more and more... odd.. the further you go). The mechanics are simple but addictive. Seriously. It's a GREAT game.
And baby brother experienced for the first time what I like to call 'I thought everybody liked this but really nobody in the greater scheme has heard of it what is even happening?” You know it? I first experienced it with my topato 'I am made of poison' tshirt. Thinking 'haha! Other nerds shall be like 'I TOO LOVE THAT WEBCOMIC' and I would share my fun fact about sharing a birthday with the creator and then we would become friends.
This never happened.
Anywho. So baby brother desperately wanted a plush of said 'battle cat' but the options for it run somewhere between $50-$100. Which is insane.
Cause look at the thing:

This is not a hard project. It is basically a ball with ears and a face.
So!
I scored this fabric in a remnant bin. It was just there, waiting for me! But any sort of white furry stuff would do. Felt, in a heartbeat, would probably work but wouldn't feel great.
I cut out two circles (using the remnants which were already triangular to make the ears!) and then hand stitched on the face which I had cut out of felt. This part takes about ten thousand years. I watched half an episode of miss fisher while doing this bit.

The trick with the ears and the feet is to attach them to the right side of the fabric so that they're tucked in like so when you stitch it together (RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER)
Stitch it up (right! sides! together!) leaving an inch unstitched so that you can pull it inside out. Then stuff with polyfill or 1million old socks or whatever and hand stitch that last bit. I did add a pocket to the top of his head so that this little guy would be somewhat functional. Maybe as a storage space for snacks? Snacks are important.
I'm not sure if I'd do this step again, as it makes his head a bit wonky. Maybe with a zipper? But that was too much thinking.

And TADA! HERE HE IS!
BATTLE CAT VS TREX. WHO WILL WIN?????
